Hostgator Review

This is my HostGator Review as I see the company.  I was actually quite surprised when I did the research for the Top 10 Domain Hosting Services.  HostGator fell into the number seven position.  I would have personally ranked them much higher, and from reading post on forums and elsewhere, I’m sure lots of their customers would have given them the number one position!  In my HostGator Review I’m going to cover some of the features offered, various plans, minor set back that may not even apply to your specific situation.

Hosting Packages/Plans

My HostGator Review found three basic plans, the “Hatchling Plan”, the “Baby Plan”, and “Business Plan”.  Here is the one shortcoming I found, the Hatchling Plan only supports one domain name where most other providers support multiple domain names in their cheapest package.  The other plans all support unlimited domains.  All plans have unlimited disk space and band width.  If you do need to go for the Baby Plan to get the extra domain support, HostGator does become a bit more costly than other Top 10 providers, nut most customers say the “service” makes it worth the investment.  My HostGator Review also looked at their other plans, but they are more for the experienced customer with more demanding requirements.  Other plans offered are Reseller Hosting, VPS Hosting, and Dedicated servers.

My HostGator Review found all of the essentials when it comes to handling your email needs.  Each plan includes; unlimited POP3 accounts, forwarding, auto responders, email aliases, mail lists, catch-alls, plus “Spam Assassin” which keeps the unwanted junk out of your mailbox.

Tools And Extras

cPanel is the management system used.  My HostGator Review found a very simple and easy to use site builder, with 4500 free Website templates, included with all plans.  It has other very easy to install options such as blogs, forums, guest books – over 75 open source scripts in all.  One of the things I found was “unlimited” MySQL Databases.  Most providers have a set limit on the number of databases allowed.  If you plan to sell online, HostGator supports osCommerce, ZenCart, CubeCart, ShopSite, and PayPal shopping cart.

Help And Service For HostGator Review

My HostGator Review found several good points in this area.  First, not that you’ll need it, they offer a 45 day money back guarantee.  Most of the newcomers to Web hosting, and even many of the seasons veterans, occasionally need some help with something.  HostGator Review found many resources in their Support Portal.  They have over 680 help articles, 500+ video tutorials, and a community forum.  If you need more personal support, that’s available 24/7/365 in the form of phone support, “Live Chat”, and an email ticket system.

Summary From HostGator Review

I personally have three separate accounts with HostGator and have been with them for about three years.  I’ve never had a problem with any aspect of their service.  I have had a few general support questions and have found their live chat and email to be very supportive, accurate, and speedy.  I hope this article has helped and given you a better look at HostGator.  Don’t forget to check out the next in this series, WebHostingHub Review.  This has been my HostGator Review.
