InMotion Review

For this InMotion Review I took a look at the domain hosting features and services offered by InMotion Hosting.  Started in 2001, the company did rank in the number four position in my Top 10 Domain Hosting Services List.  I’m not sure how they ranked that high in the top ten lists that I surveyed, but they did!  Perhaps it was from a loyal following from their business customers.  Any way, as always I remain totally unbiased in my efforts to give you all of the facts in the InMotion Review and let you make your own decision.

InMotion Review Found The Following:

To be honest, what I found was a very confusing Web site.  The main page is the simplest home page I’ve found on any hosting service provider, yet I found it the most confusing.  It seems they have a variety of hosting plans; Dedicated Servers, VPS Hosting, Business Class Hosting, Personal/Cheap Hosting, and offer Custom Web Design.

On the Dedicate Server page, they offer three different plans, Essential, Advanced, and Elite.  With the VPS Hosting, again I found three plans, based mostly on how much memory you want.  When I looked at the business Hosting, I found three plans, Launch, Power, and Pro with the main difference found in the number of sites, domains supported, subdomains, MySQL Databases, and FTP Accounts.  Note; The Launch Plan doesn’t even include eCommerce!  With the Personal/Cheap Hosting they have what is called the Value Class, and yes, that is further divided into Starter, Basic, and Max Plans.

Basic Features Found By InMotion Review:

In all of my reviews I have always listed what’s included in the lowest cost plan, and that is what I will do for my InMotion Review.  Problem is, there’s not much included!

100 GB Disk Space

1,000 Monthly Transfer

One Web site supported

One FTP Account

Email Accounts*

Email Forwarders*

Email Autoresponders*

24 Month PrePay Required

30 Day Money Back Guarantee

* I couldn’t find any numbers for email

InMotion Review DID NOT Find The Following

Yes, I said did not find.  In other reviews I have listed all of the extras that are included, but that’s not the case with InMotions cheapest hosting plan.

No Web Site Builder

No Domains Supported

No MySQL Databases

No Self installing Scripts

No Blog Support

No Galleries

No Web Site Plugins

eCommerce Features InMotion Review Found

Nothing!

What InMotion Review Found At Their Support Center

They offer the following; Getting Started Guide, Control Panel Guide, Support Forum, and tutorials.  For more personal support they have email, Live Chat, and a toll-free number to call.  While writing this review I did a Live Chat with InMotion.  Before I could get an answer to my one question, the chat was terminated.  I did get my question answered on a second attempt.

Summary For InMotion Review

After taking a close look at the confusing selection of hosting plans they offer, it appears that their cheapest hosting plan is only suitable for the very most basic user who wants nothing more than total simplicity.  For the person looking to actually jump in and create a real Web presence, you’re probably going to need their top end business plan, and even that has limitations on the number of sites allowed and number of MySQL Databases.  Bottom line, sorry InMotion, but based on my own personal findings, I can not recommend your hosting services to any one looking for a domain host.  Don’t forget to check out the next in this series, iPage Review.  That’s how I saw it while preparing this InMotion Review.
